Toddler sings but doesn't talk

My 18 month old sings twinkle twinkle, bar bar black sheep and old mcdonald. Not proper words as such but you can definitely tell what she's is singing (dances to it too).
BUT she doesn't really talk, she can say about 8 words so far.
Anybody else ever experienced this, if so was your child musical growing up?
Should I be concerned about her lack of words?? She seems to understand words but won't say them.
Just for record DH and I are both completely tone deaf and in no way musical

Do we have the same child?

Just turned 19 months, sings in her own language but the tune is spot on. She also has a brilliant sense of rhythm.

Im not too worried, she seems to have bursts of development where she does things all at once.

Not sure on your screen time views, but we watch Miss Rachel on Youtube to relax after nursery and shes started trying to copy the words (badly) but I got my first Mama yesterday!

Sounds adorable, OP, and nothing to worry about. She's still tiny!Smile

DS was also very musical and had 5 words at 24 months. 15 months later he is still musical and won't stop talking!!! Your baby sounds perfectly normal Smile

My 20 month old is the same OP! He's copying more words now. Try singing a song and then pausing just before the last word e.g. "twinkle twinkle little..." and see if your LO tries to fill in any kind of sound for "star". Keep doing it and over time it will get more intelligible.

I though it was baa baa black sheep?

Mine is 23 months and a few months ago I was thinking the same as you.
The last few weeks the words have just seemed to shoot out of him and now there are actual words to the tunes!

@HPmagic not in black country dialect.
@Butteryflakycrust83 yup mines the same, has bursts where it all comes at once. Will probably not speak till she is 3, then speak in full sentences
