Birth certificate

If I’m wanting to add dad to birth certificate which means I have to re register the birth do I send the old birth certificate as it is or a photo copy of it? Sorry might be a stupid question! Thanks :)

You need to take the original certificate in to the registry office, it will be replaced with the updated one.
