i have been potty training my two and a half year old son for 2 weeks now. he is doing really well and has been dry for over a week now and is even telling me when he needs a wee wee, the only problem i am having is getting him to do a poo! he knows he needs to go as he will go and hide somewhere and do it. if i grab him before he can hide and sit him on the potty he just will not go! any ideas? he has done so well so far! x

i am having exact same p0rob with dd1 she is 2. wee wee is fine just the poo! someone suggested laying anappy over/in the potty and slowly phase that out to encourage her. she will hold it as long as possible and either go in her knicks when i am not looking or poo on the floor!

he won't poo in the potty because he's used to pooing standing up. Don't pressurise him - it will happen - but it can take a while.

I've never had a problem with ds (2.5) and poos in the potty/toilet but one thing I've noticed is, if he has to do a poo, he will gather up a few toys or a book and take it with him to the potty and then sits for ages playing with them and straining away .

So maybe sit with him on the potty (if he is regular and can predict when he needs it) with some toys and then make such a fuss when he does poo (ie clapping etc).
I've heard chocolate buttons work well...
