Feeling too overwhelmed

My newborn is just a month old. I really love him but lately, it has been becoming too much to handle. It looks like such a huge responsibility which I just don’t want to take! Is it normal because I am a cheerful person otherwise but this entire thing is getting so overwhelming for me

Welcome to parenthood. Nobody tells you how shit and tough it is. Speak to your HV or partner or family.

Oh gosh, everyone has this overwhelming, 'what have I done?' thought when they have a baby. Its so normal.

I remember feeling this way when my DD was born. I absolutely adored her, loved being her mum but still had waves of dread where I wondered what on earth I'd done. It was the overwhelming realisation that this is what I would be doing every single day...

The good news is that you will transition into this being your new normal. Just allow yourself time and be kind to yourself. It's OK to love and adore your baby and also to long for your old life again.

You've got this!

It is overwhelming, internet/books/friends/family make it worse.

Is he fed?
Is he clean?
Is he warm/cool enough?

Everything else is just bollocks, don’t get drawn in to random stuff people say you have to do like massage/yoga/baby Einstein or whatever
