Did you find it better to toilet train on potty or baby toilet seat??

Both of mine were 2 and 10 months
After a week using the potty we moved to using the toilet with an insert seat
Worked well and it meant that they were comfortable using toilets when out and about

We only have a toilet upstairs so used a potty downstairs and then potty/toilet upstairs (depending on whether anyone was using the loo). Zero problems going to full time toilet use.

I think when you start training when they need to go, they really need to go so it's good to have something on hand to quickly sit them on.

Only have toilet upstairs too. I liked using a potty as we just took it everywhere (when we moved rooms) with us and also had a travel potty which also went everywhere. I can see going straight to toilet is a good idea though as means you don't have to transition again to getting them to use toilet. My four year old still has a potty in his room at night. Maybe I should get rid of it soon. He's only just four tho

What age is the child? I trained mines straight on the toilet with one of those kids toilet seats with the steps that you place onto your regular toilet. It cut out the middle man for me (the potty)

We went straight to toilet with toddler seat. The couple of times we used the potty she managed to stand up after and take it with her, spilling the contents.

We did have a downstairs loo though, so that helped.

Let them decide. Most of ours were happy on the potty but number 3 point blank refused and wanted to use the toilet (normal seat).

Thanks for your replies 🙂
Seeing as my ds refuses to sit on the baby toilet seat, do you think I should buy a potty or those steps for the toilet... somebody said that maybe he doesn't feel safe as his feet don't touch the ground!

We had a step. Also those 'family toilet seat' things where the smaller seat is like inside the normal one worked well. I do agree some of the toddler toilet seats seem quite precarious.

Step and seat. Pottys are grim. We managed to train DD2 with only an upstairs toilet.
