Are leather car seats + a 2 year old asking for trouble?

We’re considering buying a car with leather seats and I can’t figure out if it will be a good thing (as they’ll wipe clean) or a disaster. Does anyone have any experiences?

2 year old will be in a children's car seat for a long time yet. Will he even touch the leather seats?

We had leather seats for years, pretty childproof. Cloth seats are a nightmare to clean.

@Shuffletime No, but I wasn’t sure whether the car seat might damage the seats, and we also expect to keep the car for 8-10 years.

Leather is a great option. I miss my leather seats from my last car. Fabric seats stain so much.

You could always put a soft blanket (thinking of something like a fleece baby blanket) between the car seat and the leather seat.

However we didn’t notice any damage. Initially on removing the leather car seat there were some visible pressure marks on car seats, but these soon disappeared.

Also much easier to clean dirty shoe marks of the leather than cloth would have been

Wipe clean! Far better than cloth. Are car seats isofix? If so then they won’t mark the leather.

Leather seats are a must for any car that will regularly have children in it.

My seats are covered in mud, sand, discarded snacks, spilt drinks etc. But a quick muck out with a vacuum and a wipe over and they are back to their former glory.

If had cloth seats they would be ruined.
I'd advise a dark colour leather too if possible. Cream looks nice but gets grubby quickly.

And don't worry about car seats ruining leather. Its much tougher than cloth.

@StarsAreWishes Yes, we have a BeSafe with isofix. Good to know!

@Lottieskeeper Thanks! The leather is black. It’s not necessarily something I would have otherwise chosen but it comes as standard with the model we like and I wasn’t sure whether it would be good or bad for children. Sounds like it’s a good thing though!
