Omeprazole causing constipation

DD is 6 months and has been on omeprazole for reflux for the last 9 days but it’s made her so constipated. She hasn’t had a proper 💩 for over a week and what she does get out is solid, like rabbit droppings, and it takes a lot for her to do it. It’s coincided with her starting solids but she only has the tiniest bit of veg once a day and we didn’t experience this change with DS. Has anyone found that omeprazole blocked their LO one? I took her off gaviscon because it wasn’t stopping her vomiting and was constipating her. I’ve tried giving puréed prunes, peaches, pears, tummy massage, reflexology to stimulate her bowels. She’s been prescribed half strength movicol which she’s been on for two days (half a sachet) but nothing yet. I feel dreadful for her. She’s now been referred to the paediatrician to discuss her reflux as it’s shown no improvement 😢

If you want, you can try some simple home remedies, which will give her relief and will only have beneficial side effects. Here are two of my favourites:
Crush and soak a few (5-8) seeds of coriander in a cup full of water overnight. Strain and give it to your DD. You could give her a couple of spoons at a time, spread evenly through the day. This should help her with reflux.
Mix (do not blend) 1/4 cup clean rose petals with 1tsp sugar. Give 1/4tsp to your DD at bed time, on its own ( it’s yum!) or with some water. This remedy is excellent for constipation.
Additionally, give her a lot of fibre rich fruits, like grapes.

Thanks @Koksha.

Anybody else with experience of it? I’m so torn whether to continue giving the meds or to just remove all dairy and soya from my diet to see if CMPA may be behind the reflux. Poor little love still hasn’t had a bowel movement despite trying today

My 4.5 year old has been on omeprazole for years and is prone to constipation.

Try some brown sugar dissolved in cooled bottle water. Old wives remedy but it works. Dissolve it, then suck it up in a calpol syringe to give to baby. Yeah it’s not amazing giving sugar but neither is not going to the toilet.

Unfortunately many things for constipation aren’t great for reflux - orange juice, fruit etc.

My wee one has seeded bread for breakfast which seems to keep her regular.
