How to start putting 4mo down for naps

I've been very relaxed about routines and stuff so far and just going with my baby's cues. I've let her nap on me up until now because she woke up whenever I put her down, and I enjoyed the cuddles, however I'm starting to feel more pressure to put her in a proper routine for nap times. Everything's telling me that I have to put her down 'drowsy but awake'... does that actually work for anyone? She just cries when I try that. And she's only 4mo so I thought they were always to sleep in the same room as you?

She goes down in her next 2 me fine at night, I just hold her till asleep and then transfer her (although she is going through the 4m sleep regression at the mo 🥱

Do you want her to sleep in the cot?
You can have a routine while still holding if you prefer.

If you do decide to get her falling asleep in a cot:
First you need lots of sleep cues like special music or white noise and a comforter - start using these for every nap now. You can also start patting your baby's bottom while you hold them for naps.
Then you start cuddling with the white noise and comforter until sleepy/almost asleep and then put baby down in the cot.
Keep bottom patting while baby is in the cot.
If baby gets very upset, pick them & comforter up again and cuddle/bottom pat in arms until they are calm and then lie back down and continue the patting.
Repeat until asleep.

Your right about the same room. I have two children and I have no idea how to but a baby down sleepy but awake and then they go to sleep. If you want to cuddle your baby to sleep and hold them then keep doing it. I’m
