Hospital appointment during nap time - help!

My 20 month old has finally been offered a long awaited appointment with a paediatrician - but it falls right in the middle of nap time.

His usual schedule is 7.30am wake, 1pm sleep, 2.30pm wake, 8pm bed. The appointment is at 2pm!

I’m really worried that he’s going to be an overtired mess by the time we arrive. WWYD?

Thanks everyone. You're probably right, I'm overthinking it. I think it might be because I'm feeling quite anxious about the appointment - we've been waiting a long time to get it so I really want DS to get as much out of it as possible.

I just wouldn't worry about it and would simply go to the appointment. Children's routines have to be flexible at times, otherwise how do you ever do things like going on a family day out?

Will he sleep in the car or buggy on the way there?

Anyway, paediatricians are used to children of all ages, including cranky and overtired toddlers. So you won't be the first if he does kick off.

Hope the appointment goes well.

Can you leave for the appointment around 12:30 and let him sleep in the car until 13:45ish?

Honesty OP it'll be fine. My daughter had lot of appointments when she was overtired and it didn't affect anything. It's hard to assess a child at their prime time in the day because it'll always be something: tired, hungry, bored.

It won't be an issue
