I'll start by saying I have two older boys, 13 and 11, both in grammar school (relevant) and I'm also a registered childminder so lots of childcare experience! Then I had a third, 23 months ago. He is gorgeous and happy and ticking all the personal social and emotional boxes, but he can't walk and only says single words, he's definitely not at the 50 words or simple sentences stage. We have seen a paediatrician and been referred for blood tests and physio but 20 week waiting list.
He walks holding two hands or furniture but can't stand unaided and always pulls himself up, never gets up from the floor. He's very bendy and definitely hypermobile like lots of family members, but no one has been this late walking.

I had pre eclampsia and gestational diabetes (undiagnosed so not controlled) so he had v low blood sugar and suspected sepsis at birth but was given the all clear 3 months.

Anyone else had very late walkers? What was the problem? Anyone had one that never walked unaided but not much else wrong? He's not talking much but it's progressing, just slower than most.

I'm googling... There's no family history so obviously I'm praying that its not that. He doesn't have the larger muscles in his legs... And doesn't walk or stand unaided at all so can't assess the other areas.

Did the physio check his hips?

Dramaticpenguin · 01/02/2022 09:16

He had a hip scan at 8 weeks due to hip dysplasia in the family. My mum has a multitude of joint problems

Can you pay for a private physio OP? 20 weeks is a long time to wait for a little person
