Reflux and second baby?

So my little boy had horrendous allergies and silent reflux. It was utter hell until he was1. I am now pregnant again and getting so worried. Has anyone gone on to have another child who didn't have it? With same partner

No experience but at least this time the GP should listen to you if they do.

Congratulations on your PG Smile

DD1 had such severe reflux she was admitted several times for dehydration, suspected CMPA and pyloric stenosis. No allergies or anything found, but it got easier when weaned at 17 weeks, easier again when sitting up and mostly gone by 15 months.

DD2 is only ever sick when she’s had Calpol! Literally nothing beyond a posset otherwise. She does have her own issues in terms of milk refusal and faltering growth, but again 17 week weaning has made it all much easier and at nearly 6mo she’s now back on the centile charts and thriving at last.

For us there was no repeat of the first time around at all, and despite DD2s milk hatred she’s actually an easier baby all round. Similar to DD1 in that she doesn’t nap or sleep well, but I don’t think that’s reflux related.

We also found that doctors listened much more quickly this time around; even though it wasn’t the same issue, they took the view that we were experienced parents and trusted our instinct.

Good luck - two is actually weirdly easier than one in terms of keeping them entertained!
