Hi,
So just wondering if it is our house only, I suspect not (!) but does anyone elses children behave much nicer for Dad than for Mum? So to describe what I mean:
My child is almost 4 years old. It is a constant battle to get dressed for school in the morning, to eat meals, to get ready for bed. Every time I ask them to do something they reply "No!" and currently follows up with "Me not your best friend now"
But when Dad asks them, they instantly obey (although they don't like it). Am I just a soft walkover? I don't think I am, I operate the same disciplinary tactics as Dad - naughty step, no treats e.t.c. My child just behaves better for their father !
I joke about it but it is getting a bit annoying now (!) I am the one they run to if they are poorly, or want to play, or want a cuddle.
I am the one who gets woken up at 4am in the morning when they have a bad dream e.g They don't even attempt to wake up Dad!
And he's not a monster either, he spends plenty of time with them, cooks their dinner, picks them up and drops them at school (we share this as I'm working full time but from home) so its not like they hardly know him or do not spend a lot of time with him. And he gets up if they come and wake me up, I just have to shake him awake and he will get up and sort them, but I'm that kind of person - once I'm awake, I'm awake so consecutive 4am wake ups really suck!
This is a bit of a light-hearted vent, but sometimes I would love to be the one who gets to stay asleep in bed past 4am.... (!)
