When did your baby roll back to front?

DD 5.5 months and doesn't seem close, my book says this is a 6 month milestone. Shes been rolling front to back (not frequently just when she feels like it!) since 3 months.

Should I be worried?

This really worried me for DS1 too. He never did, not until after he could get himself up to sitting. He's a 6'3" 20yo , who wins medals for sports now.

Mine rolled front to back I think by accident a few times at 4 months
Still has never rolled the other way and hasn't rolled at all since she is 7.5 months.
They are all different.
Just because the internet says six months they don't bloody read it 😂

I think there's a huge range on rolling, both when they do it and how much they do it. DD was just over 8 months when she finally did back to tummy – she was cruising already! In her case, I think she just wasn't bothered about rolling, whereas she was desperate to walk.

My daughter will be 7 months in a couple of days and just started about a week ago

This could be my baby, he is 5.5 months, rolled front to back as he turned 4 months, did it a few times and now can't seem to be bothered, he spends most of his time shuffling/trying to shuffle when on his front and when on his back he just lifts his head as if trying to sit. Our neonatal consultant said he has probably just realised shuffling is quicker so not to be worried, I am but I try not to be!

My baby is 10 months old but 8 corrected as he was born 7 weeks early and he only rolled back to front for the first time 3 weeks ago! I brought him to physio as I was concerned he could only roll the other way.

The physio wasn’t concerned but gave us little exercises to do and then he rolled 2 weeks later, like he always could!

Her tips were to turn him onto his side after each nappy change to get his used to it. Then also to practice the roll with him by placing my hands on his hips only and slowly turn him from back to front - let his hands sort themselves out. Physio said not all babies are too bothered so we have to encourage them slightly

My DD didn’t start doing it until 8.5 months. Now a 20 month old who doesn’t stop running. I wouldn’t be worried Smile

My little guy is 7 months. He can roll belly to back but can't go the other way. I'm not worried. He will get there eventually😃

4 months and 10 months! My daughter was early with everything, my son late, but he caught up at 14 months and there was no difference between them after that. He’s very ahead on language and she’s average.

1st baby 9 months, she had a gross motor delay (never crawled, saw a physio when she couldn't pull up to standing at 16 months) but is fine now.

2nd baby 8 months - just a couple of weeks ago, she doesn't have a gross motor delay - she's crawling well already!

SittingOvation · 26/01/2022 20:33

DD1 - just before she turned 4 months.

DS2 - 6 months and still doesn't roll back to front. To be fair, he is held most of the time as he hates being put down so he doesn't have much chance to practise! I'm not worried at all.

JanuaryPinks · 26/01/2022 20:40

DS never rolled as far as I can tell. Perhaps he did it when I wasn’t looking! He crawled and walked at the very average ages of 8 months and 12 months. He could sit unsupported from 4 months though and I think was just more interested in that than learning to roll.

I wouldn’t worry if that’s the only issue.

Cdl84 · 26/01/2022 21:25

8.5 months. No problems now at 2.5 yrs.

DappledThings · 26/01/2022 22:43

On her first birthday. I think she was making a point.

KitchenTowel · 26/01/2022 23:04

Ds only rolled back to Front till recently and I was quite worried as he didn't seem close at all but suddenly he started rolling front to back as well a few days before he's six months old. Now he's rolling all the time.

I know it's hard but try not to worry. Your DD sounds fine.

KitchenTowel · 26/01/2022 23:06

Sorry I meant I was worried about him not tolling Front to back. He started rolling back to front around 5 months and a bit.

DockOTheBay · 26/01/2022 23:08

12 weeks
It varies a lot OP, I would not be concerned but maybe mention it to your Health Visitor and they may be able to advise.
