8-yr old DD says she's fat

Getting quite worried about DD.

She'll try to avoid eating, and will take just a bit out of her dinner and then say she's full.

She will eat a meal occasionally, but some days she hardly eats a thing.

I overheard her tell her friends that she's fat and doesn't want to eat.

She is a normal weight for her height, but I have noticed that her clothes are getting baggy, so I think she is losing weight.

How can I help her:

  • see that she isn't fat, not remotely
  • even if she was, it would be OK and everyone can be a bit healthier
  • you need to eat for energy and to stay well

She also thinks she is ugly, but again she's a perfectly normal little girl. (Of course to my mind she's the most breathtakingly beautiful child to ever draw breath, but I admit I might be biased!)
