Is this normal...? Contrary 2 year old!

My 2 year old has lately been very contrary with other adults (grandparents etc particularly - not all the time but quite frequently now!). E.g. Did you have a nice day? No I didn't! Would you like to read this book? No I don't! (Even though they then want to and then do)
It's getting a bit embarrassing and I know he's only 2 and a bit but it still comes across rude to me! I'm not sure how to respond (ignore and not draw attention to it or say something).
At home with just me and his dad he is so sweet and has lovely conversations with us..just seems with other adults he switches!
Please tell me others have been through the same and I'm not (unintentionally) raising a rude child😭

Ohhh my 3-year-old daughter is going through a phase right now

"Are you going to show your sister your drawing"
"No I hate it!"

"Want to get in the bath?"
"No I hate bathtime!" (she normally loves it, once shes in the bath she's all happy but it's the getting in the bath where she plays up Confused)

I have to keep telling her to be nice and stop being so contrary, but I do think it's just part of the terrible twos (and threes!!)
