DS frightened of 'big' toilets - help!

DS is nearly three (35mnths).

  • Doesn't want to wear nappies, wants to wear his big boy pants.
  • Is happy to sit on the potty and we have the system of praise for doing a wee, or trying or pulling up his pants and trousers by himself, etc. etc..
  • He's done one tiny poo in the potty, but probably because he was so bunged up something had to give.
  • He's happy to sit our toilet with a padded seat for a little bum.

Here's the issue:
He has an absolute fit when nursery take him to the loos with his toddler class. The loos are special small ones for little bums, but he's inconsolable about sitting on them. Cue constipation.
And don't even ask about whether he'll sit on a normal loo, even supported by me.

So - does anyone know of
a) a way to make him unafraid of using small 'little bottom' toilets?
b) a foldable/travel loo seat that I can put on big toilets for when we're out and about?

I'm not tearing my hair out about it. Yet. But any help and/or advice would be more warmly welcomed that the first cup of coffee in the morning.

Hi there
this will be no help, but i can sympathise.
My dd is 3y 3m, 100% wee reliable.
Will not poo at nursery. Will only poo at home, in a nappy or in her knickers (worse i think for washing) have tried star chart, heaps of praise usual stuff. She eats bags of fruit so constipation not a problem.
I think pooing will turn into a big issue if I make a fuss, so I am just keeping my fingers crossed it will all pass.
I am sure I have seen small loo seats for use on big ones. I will keep my eye out for you.
good luck
