Confused about where to send my son for studies

Hi
I am a single mom. I am also a full time working woman. I work as a website designer in a company. I also freelance after work and I have been getting quite a few gigs now. I have work extra time so that I have enough to look after my son in the future.
So my son is 8 years old. Because of the my work nature, I dont have time to look after his schoolwork. He is under performing at school because of that.
Now I am thinking of sending him to this boarding school in Dehradun. It is one of the top schools in India. I know they will look after him well. But I'd like to know the opinion of other parents about sending kids to boarding school. Please share your opinions here!

Do you live in India?

Eight is very young for boarding school, do you live near enough to see him regularly during term?

I say this as gently as I can Op but your son needs you to look after him now.

You are going to jettison him from his home because he's not keeping up with his studies, at 8 years old? This is wasted in parenting, this is aibu gold.

Was it morning when you woke up?
