I just gave tap water (bad mother!) and offered it with meals. DS was breastfed and wouldn't take liquid from a sippy cup or bottle so we ended up using regular glasses too with small amounts of water - he went through a stage of prefering a wine glass.

I think offering potatoes (or another veg) at teatime would be okay too. Most of the baby foods are mixed veg anyways!

you can offer her water and see if she wants it. Initially she probably wouldn't. I did tap water with all mine.
And for weaning, offered different tastes in the same day. I think some HV's say go slow so you can spot food allergies but they are incredibly rare and are likely to be wheat or dairy rather than vegetables.
Only thing I'd say is avoid jar food. Its so bland you end up with a picky eater and its stupidly expensive. Sweet potato or butternut squash is a good first food too.
Be on takeaway curries by next week

I gave tap water at about 5months with mine. They are fine. We are going abroad soon and I will not be giving tap water from there as the mineral make up is different.

I did tap water - just let the tap run witha quick blast to make sure you're on to the fresher stuff maybe but I'm sure it won't make ay difference!!

You can offer whatever foods you like and in any order and combination!!

Just avoid raw honey, nuts (until at 1 year old ) and anything choky (like whole grapes or cherry tomatoes or raw carrot / apple) until she is a more confident eater.

We did 'baby led weaning' i.e. no purees or jars, just normal food in a form that they can pick up to make it easier. It worked really well for us and DD now eats anything except avocado!

Tap water is fine. It wont be long until she is trying to put EVERYTHING in her mouth. Very soon the idea of sterilising everything becomes academic.

My son at 8 months old wanted to eat soil out of a plant pot. However he lived and is now a lively 5 year old.
