Hi,

DS is 2 years and 3 months old. He has a speech delay but health visitor assured us that his cognitive ability was there and it was just a delay. Recently, he's talking all the time and forming sentences.

He has trouble with pronouncing his words, like this:

Slide: Hide

Blueberry: booby

Dinosaur: d-saw t-tops (triceratops)

But can also say a lot of words crystal clear, though this has taken some time.

When did words become clearer for your little one?

My ds is the exact same age as your dc and he’s also only started speaking within the past few weeks. I’d be shocked if he pronounced everything correctly straight away. It sounds as if your son is making good progress.

Also agree with the PPs suggesting getting his hearing checked. SLT will want this done before they start, just to rule out things like glue ear.

Opal if he's 4 it's definitely worth getting him referred.

He sounds completely normal to me! My 2.2yo can say "ginormous" but mispronounces "go" and says "dow." Keep an eye on it but I think the main this is he is putting small sentences together and is understanding conversation
