Reflux hell - please help!

I know reflux can be a minefield as all babies are different but please do share your advice or what may have worked for your little one?

Our DS is really struggling at the moment at 3 and a half months old. He has always been a bit of a sicky baby but last couple of weeks it's gotten worse!
He still wakes once in the night for a feed but in the last week has started waking earlier (from 9pm onwards) constantly crying. I also can't get him down for a nap in his crib as he wakes every 10 mins screaming. He will settle again and then keep waking shortly after he has gone back to sleep multiple times until he is fully awake. DS has never been a great sleeper in his crib (hour max) but at the moment he will only have a decent sleep in his pram or if we are in the car.
We also have another child who was a dream when it came to sleeping so I am aware of the signals etc so don't think it's us not doing things correctly.
Last week DS started not taking his full bottle (6oz) and by 3 was giving up and not interested so we took him to the Doctors and they said they thought it was reflux and they prescribed gaviscon. Had some slight effect (less sick) but just made him constipated which caused an entirely different issue so we stopped it after 3 days.
This week DS is better at taking his milk but still being sick and sleep is horrendous.
I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow for further advice but this is what we have tried so far:

  • Infacol and made no difference
  • Gaviscon as mentioned but only made a slight difference and caused constipation
  • tried smaller feeds more often but he just got frustrated
  • tilted the crib slightly (as advised by HA) made no difference
  • kept upright to feed and for a longer period after feed..still is sick

I feel like I am going slightly coo-coo as he clearly is frustrated and irritated when feeding (arched back etc) but is also so grumpy from being so tired and not sleeping properly and we feel terrible!

Thanks for your help!

From a worried and sleep-deprived Mum

Hi my ds had this we ended up having him sleep in a bouncer chair so he was alway upright the gaviscon we only used half the recommended amount turned out my ds also had a dairy allergy which was why he was sick alot so worth getting that checked out we moved to baby food at 12 weeks as advised and he stopped being sick all the time and started sleeping through the night after a few weeks
