My 7mo is big and I don’t know if he’s eating too much solid food

Per the title, my 7mo is big. He is 25lbs. I was exclusively bf until 6 months but now he’s on 3 solid meals a day plus 5-7bf in 24 hours. He sleeps well at night. I’m worried I’m giving him too much solid food but he seems genuinely hungry for it and starts blowing raspberries when he’s full so he does know when to stop.

Today he had:
Breakfast: half a weetabix with milk and half a pouch of banana and coconut purée
Lunch: 120g of home made spaghetti bol, a few pieces of melon (maybe 4?) and 5 quarters of grape
Dinner: one finger of cheese on toast from my 4yos plate, 120g of homemade chickpea curry, small little Yeo yogurt for pudding

As a snack he also had some of the Ella’s kitchen melty stick things and a cocktail sausage. My 4yo is very “generous” with sharing food off his plate and to be honest I don’t mind him having little nibbles on finger food.

Does this sound like a lot? I should add he was born big at nearly 10lbs and is following his line perfectly. Thank you.

If he is following his line perfectly then he is perfect weight. The paediatric dietitian I’ve seen have always said 3 meals a day from 9 months unless you’re foing blw.

And snacks from 12 months.

You need to also give him a multivitamin.

I really wouldn’t worry, my eldest was born almost 10lb and was always on his line at that age even though he ate enormous amounts, my health visitor told me not to worry and feed to his appetite. Everything you are giving sounds really good.

Most babies know how much food they need. I think providing you are giving him healthy whole foods like it sounds like you are and not lots of extra sugar etc he will be fine. I think my son was starting to eat 3 meals a day then but he weaned early because of reflux so had been eating a while by 7m. He didn't have snacks though, as not really needed when having a lot of milk still. They recommend from 12 months but I think we started a bit before then for snacks.

I agree about tracking on his line, I presume he hasn't dramatically shot up since eating food or anything?

If the banana and coconut purée is an Ella pouch, it's the most calorific one they do. Not hundreds of kcal, but I used to give them to DS2 to get him to gain weight. Perhaps that could be swapped for another fruit purée?

Otherwise no that seems a good amount of food for his age.

As others long as he's following his line.

My DS was a big baby, he's now a toddler and has ran it all off.

His food intake is great! Definitely best for them to have a healthy variety. I think you could cut back to 3 breastfeeds. I did this at this age (morning, afternoon, before bed)

Thanks everyone! I didn’t know that about the banana and coconut but will take note. He still feeds twice over night and before naps, then a couple more at other points of the day and he seems to need it. He has definitely reduced bf frequency since he starting weaning so hopefully that will continue as he gets a bit older.
