Oh god baby bumped head! What do I do?

So for the first time in five months, DD bumped her head. She rolled off the mat onto the floor (only about a 5cm drop) and bonked it on the cabinet.

She cried but stopped the minute we picked her up.

Obviously feel terrible but not sure what to do now? Is it a watch and wait?

I've put a cold compress on already!

I think at 5cm she should be fine. If she cried that's a good sign. Yes, watch and wait.

There's really no need to watch, wait or do anything at all. Flowers I get you though. I slept on the floor in DSs bedroom when he had his first slight temp.

I just realised how low 5cm is. Really should be fine.

She'll be fine, you've got loads of bumps to come.

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 11/01/2022 16:04

Call an ambulance! Just kidding.. She will be fine. Smile

My DS had much worse falls than that and survived, main thing to watch out for is after an hour if they are not back to their normal selves or can't be roused from sleep.
If the bump goes outwards not inwards that's a good sign.

Cuddles are the best medicine for this kind of bumped head :)

Babies are more sturdy than you think! She will be fine. If you took her to get checked over, all they'd do is ask you about her temperament, is she sleepy, did she lose consciousness etc.
If she seems fine then all is well.

I had this recently with DD2 who is a similar age and fell out of our (low) bed onto a carpeted floor. She was absolutely fine and was all smiles and giggles again after a cuddle but I did everything I could think to check including checking her pupils and in the absence of finding anything wrong with her sat obsessively checking her pulse 🤦‍♀️
Your DD will be fine after her tumble I’m sure 😊

maddy68 · 11/01/2022 16:25

I'm assuming this is your first?

Honestly it's fine . Just wait until you have another and it's helpful siblings keep picking him up and dropping him or slamming him into doors when they turn too quickly

Vapeyvapevape · 11/01/2022 16:29

It's hard not to worry Op , we've all been there ! My dd fell off my not-so-low bed and ended up with a carpet burn on her forehead and then there was the time I was rocking her to sleep and clonked her head against the door frame!
They are pretty hardy but it's always worse when it's their head.

Thank you everyone! Yes she's my first haha - over anxious mother alert Grin

She seems grand, will keep an eye but am reassured by you all!
