Settling 8 week old for naps - tips please!

My baby son is 8 weeks, I also have a 3yo son.

I'm really struggling with baby's daytime naps. Half the problem is noisy 3yo, but we were determined to get him to sleep with noise in the background as with our other son we gave him white noise and had the telly on mute and tiptoed around the whole time which was not great and he is still a light sleeper now. I'm struggling to get anything done round the house or with 3yo as settling baby is taking a lot of my time, and isn't even successful most of the time!

So far my best course of action is putting baby in his bouncer tucked up with a blanket (otherwise he waves his arms all over the place) and rocking him with my foot, and then using a rockit rocker to keep the movement going. Sometimes I use ewan the dream sheep too with his sleepy music if 3yo is playing a noisy game.

We are only ever getting 10/20/30 min cat naps here and there and it takes a really long time to settle him for not much time in return. When 3yo is at nursery I can sometimes get him to sleep for much longer as the house is quiet.

Does anyone have any tips for me?

Oh - before someone says sling, he absolutely hates it! Screams bloody murder.

Have you tried a battery powered baby swing? I picked up an ingenuity one from FB marketplace and it was a life saver from about 6 weeks to 4 months.

Meant to add for 20 quid!

@Lockdownmummy I was wondering if these actually work! Maybe I should look out for one.

It's worth a shot! My baby would just not nap at home and it was very frustrating but it worked for her.

Just about to pass it on to a friend with a non napping baby otherwise I probably would have put it back on market place!
