Hi, I'm interested to know if anyone has tried baby massage and if it helped them?

Helped with what?

My dd loved it as a baby and was always very relaxed afterwards if that’s what you mean?

Freddie456 · 10/01/2022 15:20

In my experience it didn’t make a difference to wind or colic but my son enjoyed it.

I tried it with DD and she hated it unfortunately although I do know other babies who enjoyed it.

My little boy loved it, it helped when he was constipated/was struggling with wind

Similar to other people, it has definitely helped with wind/digestion and we do it as part of winding down for bed and my LO has fun with it, was worth it for us.

I believe it really made a difference to my DS when he was around 3 or 4 months old. It seemed to ease his wind and he slept better.

My son loved it when he was younger, also good for techniques to help with things like wind, which he always suffered from!

As part of our bedtime routine I massage my 5 month Old's legs (and sometimes chest and back). I don't know if it counts as massage but I basically run emollient into his skin (he's got a bit if eczema). He absolutely loves it. Even if he's overtired and has been crying before that it calms him down and makes him smile.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 11/01/2022 02:58

He wriggles about too much to even register you're doing anything. He's nearly 4 months and has always been the same. Sometimes he gets a splat of Aveeno if I can be arsed.

Did you all go to classes or did you do an online course? Just wondering if it is a good way to meet new friends. If so, do you still keep in touch?

I did mine via zoom due to covid but then we met up in person for the last class. I still talk to two of the people from it. I think in person is better if you want to meet people and don't be afraid to ask if they want to meet up outside the class, it's the only way you really have a chance of making friends is if you ask.

Lou98 · 11/01/2022 10:16

@calmbabes I never went to class, I just started massaging him at night when putting coconut oil on his dry skin. I then watched a YouTube video to make sure I was doing the stomach massage right when he was constipated

Snowoctopus · 11/01/2022 10:21

Yes my son and I attended an IAIM baby massage class and both loved it. I’d definitely recommend an in person class. We also loved Birthlight Baby Yoga.
