Formulas?

Is there a big difference in formulas? Is one really better than the other?

Has anyone used Cow and Gate Simply A2 Stage 1? My LO is currently on C&G comfort after swapping from C&G first infant formula as he was struggling with colic. Was going to try and wean him off it but should I go back to normal C&G? Try the A2 formula? Or switch to Aptimel?

He doesn't like HiPP Organic at all, we tried him on it for a few days

Theres no big difference. They all have to have similar ingrediants by law.

Is he OK on the comfort milk?
If he is just I'd leave him on it for now
I had to Google simple A2 milk. Is that another thing they've invented so they can charge a higher price for it?!

Aptamil and cow and Gate have the same manufacturer but one is more expensive than the other

Is there a reason that you want to stop giving him the comfort milk regina?

reginaphalange22 · 09/01/2022 15:15

His nappies on comfort are awful. I know it says loose and green but they're v runny! HV also said we would try and wean him off it in a fortnights time? Is there any reason to or will I just leave him be?

Os he in any discomfort with the poo abs did your HV give a reason that he should be weaned off the comfort milk?

Yes all infant formula is made to the same nutritional standards but they do not all contain the exact same ingredients. Some contain palm oil and some don’t. Some contain fish oil and some don’t. Some are made from full cream milk and some from skimmed. Some have the proteins hydrolysed and some don’t.

I think Simply A2 is easier for some to digest because it contains only the gentler milk proteins, similar to goat milk but without the hefty price tag (I say that as someone who is reluctantly paying a small fortune for goat formula for DD2 who refuses to drink anything else!).

We use Kendamil as it’s palm free and dd likes it more. We initially tried aptamil and hipp but she didn’t really like it and she struggled with feeding. Crying lots and arching her back. She wouldn’t feed well at all but is much better on Kendamil. She still suffers from reflux but it’s nowhere near as bad as before.

We ended up using aptamil as she was born prematurely just before Christmas and it was the only one we could get our hands on at the time... She seems fine in it.

I had wanted kendamil but their stocks etc are really unreliable and don't want to get her in something and then not be able to get hold of it
