Sleep 4/5 month old

I have a nearly 5 month old baby girl. Up until about 4 weeks ago she was sleeping really well at night (7.30pm-5am feed then back to sleep till 8-8.30am). She has been waking every 1 to 2 hours recently and seems to be uncomfortable with wind? I don’t know if its the 4/5 month sleep regression but whats making me think differently is because she seems uncomfortable and passes a lot of wind when she wakes. She has never been a good napper but she has got worse with her naps recently too and it takes me ages to get her down to nap. I’ve tried shorter and longer wake windows and nothing seems to work. She has been going to bed for the night between 6.30pm and 8pm ive just been following her lead but nothing changes the night wakening. Please someone tell me this will get better! I am starting to lose my mind as I am so tired during the day and cant even nap while she naps as it's only 30-45 min naps and i cant fall asleep that quickly

Hello. It will get better. Just coming through 5 weeks of this with my baby almost 5 months too.
He's been pooping and windy at night- I think it's part of the regression as he is more awake hence his digestive system is working.
Not sure what to say other than use the carrier, co sleep, get partner or friend to take baby for an hour so you can nap. I also go to bed by 9 to maximise sleep even if in small chunks. Use white noise and black out curtains at night and for all napshas been helping.
It's hellish but it does pass.
We are starting to come through the other side. Good luck x

Thanks so much its just good to hear other people going through the same thing or have been through it. My partner is really good and will take her when he can but he works mon-fri so its really hard and I hate asking people for help lol yeah i try and get to bed at around 9-10pm so i get as much sleep as possible. Its been going on since just before xmas so hopefully only a couple more weeks and she will be back sleeping through 🤞🏻

Sounds like the 4 month regression alright! My baby was waking every 45 mins - 1.5 hours at some points during it, pure hell! My husband and I went back to doing shifts so we both could get a bit of sleep - it did end after about 3 weeks and then he magically started sleeping through the night (which he had never done before) so it was actually the best thing that happened to us!

Aw I would love to be able to do it in shifts but i ebf and don’t really express as I don’t get much out anyway and my partner also works mon-fri with a driving job so can’t really go to work tired. He does get up with her in the mornings at the weekends once shes had her morning feed though so i can get a lie in at least.

Hi,

This sounds so familiar. 4 month sleep regression plus a growth spurt in my little one’s case.

He was waking, restless (which made me think wind like you) false starts at bed time, waking early, split nights the lot! When he stopped waking so frequently, the 45 min naps and false starts stuck around. I played with his wake windows and found they needed lengthening to 2:30 rather than 2:00. I also began starting the day an hour earlier (although it kills me)…but it means I get my evenings back and better sleep overall. He also no longer fights naps! Still has the odd 45 min but doesn’t go down crying. Almost seems happy that it’s naptime! OH and I dropped the fourth nap (so maximum 3 hours daytime sleep)

…he is almost six months so his sleep was sporadic and messy for almost two months. Took me a while to figure it out…but I do wonder if it’s anything I actually did or if he has just come out the other side of his regression.

It’ll get better :) xxx
