Swapping my 6 month old from breast to formula

I've been giving my baby formula for the past couple of weeks, he takes a bottle fine the only problem is he dosent drink much. On the tub it tells me he needs around 7oz of milk but I can only get him to drink around 4-5 oz sometimes less every 2-3 hours. I try and encourage him to drink more and go longer between the feeds but I think it must be where he was used to breastfeeding/'snacking' more frequently. Any advice or is this normal?

Pretty normal, just use the remaining in cereal/porridge or make white sauces.

Does he have yoghurt? That'll help too.

Sounds pretty normal. I was giving a couple of bottles of formula a day at that age because DS hardly ever had a long breastfeed any more, it was always snacking, even when he was tired or very hungry, and he would get distracted even if it was in a dark quiet room.

Assuming you’re starting to wean too, it can be difficult to balance the milk and food intake, as they probably won’t be up for tasting food if they’re full of milk. Less of an issue right now but in a few weeks when portion/meal sizes are increasing a bit, they’ll need to have an appetite so you want to keep the big formula bottles away from mealtimes.
