Cold turkey with dummy

My baby is 16 weeks tomorrow and relies heavily on dummy during the day as well as throughout the 2nd half of the night.

I have decided to cut the dummy in the hopes of creating a more content baby who sleeps better (frequently waking for dummy putting in, especially during the day)

Has anyone any tips for how to teach her to self settle. If I put her in the cot in a dark room with white noise and swaddled she screams bloody murder. I have been bouncing/rocking her to get her to nap and then transferring to cot but obviously this creates another sleep association which defeats the point.

Any help much appreciated

We tried this at 8 months on the advice of a sleep consultant. And then it just started creeping back. By a year DC only had it for sleep and I was fine with that. Around 2.5 we went cold turkey and had a couple of nights he shouted for it then fine.

With DC2 we just kept it for sleeping till about 2.5 again.

I wouldn't try to ditch it now at all.
