Bringing on labour, does anything work?:(

Hello, I'm due my DC2 in 2 days! I have an appointment with the midwife tomorrow were she will be wanting to discuss induction I'm assuming if I don't go natural within the next few days.
I had a horrible experience with induction in the pandemic last time with my DC1 and I really would love to avoid if possible. I was in there for 5 days alone in pain and it was draining. Also now I don't want to be away from my DC1 for that long as they would not be able to visit due to restrictions and would love to be discharged asap to be back home with my family.
Is there any tips to make me go into labour naturally? I'm sorry to ask again I'm aware there are older threads but just desperate to go natural if possible and I'm showing 0 signs at the moment 😔

Have sex. Probably the last thing you want but proven to sometimes get labour started !!😉😉

DS decided labour would begin the night before my induction was due to happen (labour started at 11 days past my due date), so don't despair, it can still happen naturally right up to the wire! Good luck Thanks

Watch a comedy programme. I’m convinced that laughter brought on my first labour. You could also try a curry.

Sex both times for me.

Feeling safe and cosy. Oxytocin. Orgasms. Blow jobs (the prostaglandins in semen are supposedly absorbed more readily this way than through sex, they help ripen the cervix). Gentle exercise. Cuddles. Scrubbing the floor on all fours. I wouldn't recommend trying all those at the same time :)

Things that probably don't help: worrying about an induction and being away from DC...

You need to consent to induction. Unless there's another indicator, it's not unsafe to go up to two weeks past your due date. As you've had a baby before, even if you do need induction to kick things off, it's likely to be a quicker process than last time. You could also request a CS if induction is not what you want and the baby needs to come out sooner rather than later.

I went into labour after making a big lovely pie. Basically you need to signal to your body that things are safe and quiet and you're in a good place to give birth. Animals seek out somewhere quiet and secure to nest down undisturbed, do the closest possible thing to that!

Colostrum harvesting / nipple stimulation- worked for me at 38w by mistake qnd my hospital bag wasn't even packed Blush

Thank you everyone!! Appericiate you taking the time to reply 🙂

@GrendelsGrandma
The reason I wouldn't request a CS is my DC1 is only 17 months old so needs lots of help with things still and although I have a great support system I think it would be harder recovering from a CS with 2 babies than an induction. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though 🤞

Will try all of the above maybe not in one go and try to stop stressing 😅

Nothing worked for me and I tried it all, including wasting money on acupuncture which did absolutely nothing. I had to be induced at 12 days overdue. Best of luck to you, if you're not quite at your due date yet then you still have plenty time to go naturally.

Sex all 3 times for me too Grin

Woodlandwater · 04/01/2022 11:27

I cook babies for longer it seems. I had to be induced 2 weeks late both times. If I had my time again I may ask to be monitored for an extra week to see what would happen naturally.

Newmother321 · 04/01/2022 12:18

For me I just walked, walked and walked some more. My waters burst a week before my due date in the end .

Eri21 · 04/01/2022 12:30

I had a long walk, some stretches at home, 2 times sex and everything started after few hours at nighttime.

Kentuckyrain · 04/01/2022 15:50

Looks like I'll be doing the deed after a walk and a curry tonight 🤣 I've also just ate a full pineapple but all that's done has given me heart burn. I'm due in 2 days so fingers crossed he appears on time!
