How to respond to behaviour

How do you respond to behaviour from young DC that’s not naughty, but too much silliness/being over excited? My DC are often shrieking/being noisy at home, all play, but DH tells them to stop/tells them off. They often don’t listen which I realise is infuriating, and then the situation escalates and ends up with someone shouting/getting angry/being sent to their room.

It’s often the same when a joke/game/rough housing carries on for too long and then my 6 year old DC in particular doesn’t know when to stop, and ends up annoying everyone.

Any ideas?
