Why does my 4 month old shout

My 4 month old baby keeps on shouting (not crying) but he just shouts constantly even when he is content and I'm not sure why. He shouts while playing independently and with anyone else. He's been like this for about a month now.

Did anyone else have this experience with their child?

Because he has figured out that he can? They are often very proud of themselves when they discover a new skill they can practise.

Oh yes.
It's discovery.
My almost 7 month old loves a screech and a shout 🤣

Ooh, yes! He has discovered the power of his own voice and he's loving it. I say enjoy it because it's so cute. I miss those days.

He's found his voice

They make all sorts of noises! Just learning how their voice works. DD had a piercing shriek she was very keen on for a while.

It’s new, it’ll get boring soon when he figures out he can move his hands and feet and make them do stuff.

Grettagove · 02/01/2022 19:41

Mine is 4 months and is doing this. It really makes me smile Smile.

😂 I remember this! My DS used to look at his hands in amazement thinking wtf are these
Heruka · 02/01/2022 22:19

He’s saying things! If only we could understand what they were…

BrizzleMaverick · 02/01/2022 22:26

This is normal and he is just finding his voice and learning the first ways to communicate and get attention rather than crying.
My five month old screeches with excitement when her brothers run around entertaining her. It is so cute!

I LOVE it when they discover their hands, just staring at them wide eyed in shock and awe Grin the shouting is very cute as well not at 4am though

There was a tiny baby at a class we went to that had perfect comic timing - as soon as it went quiet he shout out. Adorable.
