Potty training

This is honestly the one thing I have dreaded about having a kid, but the time has come!

My toddler is 23 months and we have had a potty in the living room for a few months now in order to familiarise him with it. It’s a realistic looking toilet one, so as he is used to seeing us on the toilet he knows what it is.

He has never shown any interest in it but today, twice, he pulled down his trousers, sat on it and did a poo. He was in his nappy obviously but I was amazed.

Anyway, this is obviously a sign he is ready but I am absolutely clueless. Shall we just spend a few days nappy free in the house now and see what happens?

I found the Oh Crap book really helpful. I used it for ds2 after winging it for ds1. But essentially yes I would get dc to go bottomless in the house for a couple of days then if that goes well progress to loose joggers and no pants. Then work up to pants and trousers. I still used pull ups for night, we called them nighttime pants .
Good luck!!!

I'd definitely give it a go as he seems to be ready and knows what to do. We used Mrs Wee & Mr Poo to move ours to the toilet once he was ready :-)
