For the home. We bought a £4 one from Asda and its crap...obviously! Really want one that'll last aaaaaaaaages before the plastic splits! Thank you!

The ones I've got that have lasted have been from Jojo Mama Bebe.

I didn't buy them they were given to me so I have no idea how much they cost.

The ones that are OK and lasted nearly a year cost about £10 and came from a variety of places.

I used a generic (mothercare or boots but I think mothercare has gone now?) one with totsbots waterproof changer on top. The advantage was I could take the totsbots one out with me. It was also a really good size and warm.

@educatingrati Boots sells Mothercare branded clothes but standalone Mothercare no longer exists.

The only one I had that lasted was from mamas and papas. It lasted 2 years with no damage unlike the ones from John Lewis and mothercare.

We've had the best experience with East West (about £9, Amazon). We've had two boys, and both in nappies beyond three. I'd buy another if we had another baby.

We have a Mama shack one, my son is only 14 months mind you but its nice quality and still looks same as the day we got it. Love the prints too!

Booksandwine80 · 02/01/2022 18:18

I second mamas and papas-we had a jojo one that split really badly after a few weeks. Will try to link the type I mean

CoffeeMonkey · 02/01/2022 18:27

We’ve found Shnuggle or Mamas & Papas the best

WeaninWoes · 02/01/2022 18:28

@Booksandwine80 unfortunately that one is really short at only 70cm!

@WeaninWoes. Ah! Sorry, I just googled the type I had-maybe they come bigger than that?

I have two of these, one for upstairs and one for down in different colours. I liked the wedge shape and the washable cover, DD is nearly 2 and both mats are like new.

Can you recommend a decent thick changing mat?
bumbledeedum · 02/01/2022 20:27

The wedge shaped one from John Lewis. Stopped babies rolling off so easily, no folds to collect dirt and ours is only just developed a tiny split after 3 years and 2 babies.

Notbluepeter · 02/01/2022 20:32

@bumbledeedum I have had this JL mat for 10 months and it's already split twice in two places ☹️

This one from IKEA - you can get towelling covers for it also but we just use ours without , done 2.5 years with one child and still perfect now with 4 month old.

escapingthecity · 02/01/2022 20:44

We have gone through two John Lewis ones which broke - our Mamas and Papas one like this has lasted two years without splitting: www.mamasandpapas.com/collections/changing-mats/products/essentials-changing-mattress-4155y0600

amidsummernightsdream · 06/01/2022 16:45

I got mine from this company and have been very happy with it. It’s very thick and showing no signs of wear and tear at all.

They have some beautiful designs Plus its a small business run by a mum, which I liked

Wow I'm really surprised as ours has held up amazingly despite two house moves and lots of temporary locations/being shoved behind chairs. I bought it after recommendations here. I hope they've not gone down in quality as we were planning to buy another one when this one dies.

Skyeheather · 06/01/2022 21:59

I've had my Mama's and Papa's for three years and it's still going strong, being used by baby number two now. Definitely recommend.
