I had my second C-section three weeks ago and was told by a midwife from day 5 that I had a small opening in my wound that would heal itself and that my wound looked good and healing. The same on day 10 from another midwife. 2 days ago my wound leaked some blood from that area so I went to triage and had it checked out, the same that the hole would heal itself eventually and she took a swab to check for infection and I’m to call tomorrow to check if the results are back but that she didn’t think it would be infected and that it looked okay just to keep it clean and dry. The wound still looks a bit moist and I can see where the hole is where there’s a little bit of seepage on a pad normally in the morning, minimal. MIL is a midwife, doesn’t live here unfortunately but we’ve sent her a photo and she advised the same as the rest keeping it clean, dry and airing it. She did advise a steri strip but I don’t think I’m comfortable with that!
But I’m finding it impossible to do that! It rests in my belly fold/fat and with an 18 month old and a breastfeeding newborn cluster feeding I don’t have the time to lie still and hold my belly to air it properly!
So I suppose this is just hoping that someone in the same position can tell me that their hole closed by week 6 and a bit of a rant that I’ve no idea how to get it to heal and worried it’s gonna take months or need further help as I can’t be like this for months! I’m so fed up of not being able to do much, my first section my wound healed perfectly without any issue and I was basically back to normal by week 3 so I’m struggling with being stuck on the sofa as well as the usual cabin fever you feel with a baby anyway when it’s impossible to time feedings to go out without him crying!
I don’t think there’s any point in going back to triage at the minute, as long as the swab comes back okay, as it will just be the same advice over again 🙄
