Looking for advice on ready made SMA bottles

My son was born at 34 + 5 and is now a couple of weeks old. He spent 10 days in the neonatal unit to establish feeding and was discharged on Monday being bottle fed the 70ml ready made SMA bottles as my milk supply dropped when i was discharged from the hospital. We gave him the remaining ready made bottles then started him on the powder formula using the perfect prep machine yesterday but he has had terrible gas after every feed since starting this, he seems to be in a lot of discomfort for quite a period of time after feeding it just doesn't feel right and we are a bit uneasy with it. We tried giving him another type of formula but had the same problem, has anyone had this issue before? He is fine on the SMA ready made bottles. We are going to continue with the ready made bottles in the short term but the other thing we are unsure of is if we can heat/warm the formula after it has been refrigerated? Any advice would be appreciated!

Congratulations! 💙 I don't really have any experience with comparing the ready made and the powder but we had to swap SMA for Cow and Gate as it gave my son terrible gas and green poo! It had agreed with him for a while then all of a sudden it didn't! I hope he settles soon for you.

It's been a long time since I used the ready made bottles (my 34 weeker is now 19) but do you mean the bottles that come with the disposable teats?
My DS was unable to suck properly from our bottles when I'd used up all of the readymade disposable teat ones.
We had to go and buy new bottles with latex rather than silicon teats.

Congratulations on your little one! My little boy is on SMA. We use the powder when at home and the pre made bottles when out and about. He drinks pre made fine at room temperature normally, if we have any left and have put it in the fridge then we warm it by putting it in his bottle then popping the bottle into hot water to warm through. I think you can also buy electric bottle warmers (think tommee tippee do one). My friends little girl also suffered with really bad gas when she made the bottles using the prep machine but is fine if using boiling water and the powder and letting it cool down to the right temperature

Yep we just stand any formula for the fridge in a jug of hot water until drinkable.

Have you tried making the powder with water from the kettle rather than the prep machine? I read quite a few posts on here and other forums that the prep made their babies gassy.
