9 months old next week and not a single tooth - not even a bumpy gum. Is this late for them to be appearing? I thought he would have them about 6mth. The new song in our house is "all we want for christmas is our 2 front teeth"!!!!

my dd got hers around her first birthday then they all seemed to arrive in quick succession - lots of sleepless nights

ArcticRoll · 21/12/2007 20:48

Don't worry,my ds didn't get his first tooth 'til about 16 months.

Broodymomma · 21/12/2007 20:51

Seriously??? Oh Im relieved I thought they got them much earlier - my friends daughter is 3 months and has 4! Thanks for putting my mind at ease x I love the gummy look anyway!

devonsmummy · 21/12/2007 20:57

crokky · 21/12/2007 21:00

my DS got his first at 10 months, don't worry!

oaktree · 21/12/2007 21:03

dd got 4 teeth at 13m ............& hasn't get any more yet. looks like a beautiful bugs bunny.......

Broodymomma · 21/12/2007 21:08

Awwwww!! Dont know why i thought they came through earlier - probably to do with the fact my mum has texted daily since he was 16 weeks to see if he has a tooth yet!!

i teethed at 14 months so i knew mine wouldn't be early - plus they were prem - had all the symptoms from 6 months though which was fun

ByTheSea · 21/12/2007 21:10

DD2 didn't have a tooth until 14 months. I thought she'd be late to start losing teeth, but just lost her first tooth at 5 1/2.

Magrat · 21/12/2007 21:10

4 teeth at 3 months .. that's unusual

first teeth around 1 .. tend to come in in 2's IIRC .. weirdly DD got her canines through first and looked like a vampire

Broodymomma · 21/12/2007 21:11

my ds has been drooling like a hound dog for 5 months - i feel like we have been going through teething forever with nothing as yet to show for it. I did hear that the later they come through then the easier it is for the lo as there is more room in the mouth and also that the teeth come in stronger. Not sure how much truth there is in that though x

DS1 had 2 teeth on his first birthday
DS2 got his first tooth the day before his 1st birthday.
However DS1's best buddy had 6 teeth at 5 months

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 21/12/2007 22:19

oh
DS is just 9 months and his 8th tooth is just coming through now - I knew he was early but blimey (it's been absolutely bloody hell for the last 5 months as well)

basically it seems obvious that there is a MASSIVE range of ages

they'll be here soon and maybe he'll be OK when they do as he's that much older (hopeful for you)

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 21/12/2007 22:20

DD1 got her first tooth at 11 months DD2 at 13 months. They will arrive one day!

LoveAngelGabriel · 21/12/2007 22:20

DS was 10 mths old when first tooth appeared.

UniS · 21/12/2007 22:51

have you e-mailed the tooth fairy to request a christmas delievery?
Normal range for 1st tooth is 0-12 months IIRC.Howver some are earlier ( born with teeth) and some later (like Arctic rolls ds).
boy was 4 m/o had 16 by 1st B/d. By teh time they start school no one can tell and no one will care.

AMerryScot · 21/12/2007 22:52

Mine didn't get teeth until close to their first birthdays. It's a good thing No cleaning, and it seems to take longer for permanent teeth to appear also.
