Flailing arms

Hi, I am a first time mum to a 8 week old baby. since birth he hasn't really liked being put down but we are slowly working on it and he is getting better. The trouble we have is when we put him down to sleep his arms and legs instantly start flailing really bad so he wakes every time. In the last week I made the decision to swaddle him on a night and it works a treat, but it worries me because the advice is not to swaddle when I'm sleeping and I'm worried he will one night learn to roll over.
My question is does anyone know if swaddling will train him into not moving his arms? Is so how long? Also are there any other methods that will stop him from moving his arms?
Thanks for any advice x

It sounds like when you are putting him down you are triggering his startle reflex. This is normal and eventually he will loose this reflex.
