Im not sure, have one 20 month old so more the age of your youngest, but we don’t really have anything similar to your list.

He mainly likes things to build and use. Of the top of my head the main toys:

  • wooden building blocks
  • duplo
  • magformers
  • brio train set
  • tea set
  • selection of small animals ie schleich
  • books
  • puzzles, now on those 2-4 piece ones.
  • teddies, dolls pram
  • pop up tent, pikler triangle ( both Xmas so novelty new atm)

You don’t have any dolls. My little boy has a few plus a buggy and sling and he loves to look after them and change their nappies. He also likes playing with a dustpan and brush and broom.
Duplo is also interesting at that age.

I would keep all of those but I am really bad at getting rid of toys - you could put some that aren't getting played with away for a few weeks then they may be more interested when you get them out again. If you have birthdays coming up or want to get something else, you could consider a few games - like memory, or shopping list from Orchard Games, to help your 4 year old practice taking turns? Also perhaps something more sensory like play doh or kinetic sand for the elder child? We put our stickle bricks in the bath sometimes - sometimes re-ignites their interest!

What about some small world play. Maybe Happyland for the 1 year old and Playmobile for the 4 year old. My 6 year old daughter has Sylvanian houses and a treehouse and a big Playmobile Castle with lots of knights. She also has lots of mini figures with her lego. She loved Happyland and Dulplo as a toddler.

Are some of these not a bit young for your 4 year old? They seem to be largely geared towards the younger one, apart from the vehicles and kitchen. Does he have any soft toys/dolls/dressing up outfits/active toys like a scooter?

dingdongmerrilyy · 29/12/2021 20:00

We have a doll actually I forgot to add my youngest has the new coco melon baby doll

We have tons of cuddly toys

We don't have toy families like happy land etc as when I tried before with peppa pig figures he wasn't interested. He's not hugely into pretend play apart from his kitchen sometimes

Oh and yes he has a scooter. He has a balance bike too but over Xmas has upgraded to a bike with pedals.
