6 month old screeching constantly

Hi everyone,

My LO turned 6 months old but since around 5 months he has started to just screech at the top of his lungs, pretty much all the time he's awake. He does it even when all the boxes are ticke, fed, changed, slept or being played with etc

I'm starting to struggle. Every time I check online about it all I read is it developmental?? Is this the case or do i need to speak with doctors or his health visitor?? I wouldn't mind so much but his screams are becoming so high pitched and my ears are going to start bleeding in a minute! It can't be very nice for my LO either!!

Oddly he doesn't do it when we are out and about only at home but some days a day at home is needed so can't be out ALL the time!

Please help 🥺

He's just testing his own voice and playing with the sounds he can make, frustrating as it is right now he'll soon grow out of it. I had some success in talking back to my DS in a whisper to encourage him to speak quietly!

I remember this faze. Drove me absolutely mental but DS did eventually quiet down. I did also do as the previous poster mentioned speak to him in a low voice to try encourage him to be a little more quiet.

My little boy turns 6 months on Sunday and he's just started doing the same. Sometimes I think he's just chatting and other times it out of frustration or boredom. I seem to have found the same as yourself online that it's a sign of normal development and is something he will grow out of, I'm hoping sooner rather than later! It's nice to know it's not just your baby going through the tricky milestones ! Ds started this at four months. It wasn't all day long but too long anyway. This was just after (or was it before?) his "rolling his r" phase, which I loved. It sounds like a cat purring and is a low pitched pleasant sound. Now at five he doesn't make many sounds but sometimes we still get the he screeches. I think he's focussing on rolling for now.

If he seems happy op then he is probably just testing out his voice. Experimenting with different sounds. Hope it passes quickly. It's not the most pleasant phase.

Just noticed that everyone said "son" did this. DD never did this if I remember correctly. I wonder if it's s boy thing?
