Confused about duvet for toddler

I’m thinking about changing my 18 mo from a sleeping bag to a duvet. She got a lovely duvet set and a pillow for Christmas but it’s only a 4.5 tog. When looking online I cannot seem to find any other duvets that fit a cot bed that are higher than a 4.5. For those who put there toddlers in duvets what tog do you use and is it beneficial for me to be changing her from her grobag to a duvet.

4.5tog is the maximum recommended for a cot bed. My ds stayed with a sleeping bag until he was 2½ years old.

You can go up to 10.5tog in a single bed

DS had a sleeping bag until about 2 1/2 years, then we switched to a duvet. Now he's 3 he has a 4.5tog duvet and a thin blanket, but we took the side off his cot so he's okay with a extra layer. He doesn't seem bothered at all they're a bit thin.

As others have said you won’t get a toddler duvet higher than 4.5 tog. You need to adjust her pyjamas accordingly to the weather.

Honestly, they don't need higher than 4.5 tog.
I'm not sure how it works, but the smaller you are, the lower the tog you seem to need to keep warm.
My kids are on 1.5 in summer. My 12 Yr old progresses to a 4.5 in winter. His younger brother says no. And we are a house where the heating goes off at 8pm.

That's a warm temperature for overnight. What do they currently wear in their sleeping bag?

What I meant was, a 4.5 tog toddler duvet is meant for year round use but obviously they won’t be wearing the same level of pj’s in summer as they will in winter. For example, in winter they might wear long pj’s and a vest, but in summer just a vest and pants or short pj’s, but the duvet remains the same.

Doesn't seem warm to me, mine definitely had 10.5 tog duvets from when they went into beds, normal pjs underneath. We have a 10.5 too

10.5tog is ok for a single bed but not a cotbed

Apparently because they are smaller, the duvet wraps more tightly around them, so they need a lower tog. I guess there is a smaller pocket of air that needs to be heated up. My kids both have 4.5 tog duvets and you'll be completely fine in 20 degrees. They should still be fine if it's a fair bit colder too.

They would be fine with normal pjs and a 4.5 tog duvet at 20-22 degrees, they might even be too hot?

I always have my DD in her 2.5 grobag and a long sleeved bodysuit as recommended on the tommee tippee grobag chart

DP wants to switch to a duvet for a 23 month old but I’m nervous about him suffocating! He wriggles around and often finds himself with his head by the bottom of the bed
