Would you visit a smokers house as a one off?

One off visit for a couple of hours at a smokers house for family gathering with a child?
They won't smoke in the house at all when guests are there, and will have had windows open to air out any prior smoke in the house.
WWYD?

I actually 'lost' a relative who refused to not smoke when I took my dc. The youngest had almost died after catching whooping cough as a newborn. We weren't sure of any long damage and she still refused. So I stopped visiting. She made her choice.

I wouldn’t, as the stink of stale cigarette smoke makes me vomit. I would meet the person outside instead, or invite them to my own house, where smoking is banned.

Yes of course and easy enough to have a Bath wash clothes if the smell attaches. Far easier and seems a bit ott to miss family gathering for this reason.
Mind you and in interests if full disclosure I used to smoke and remember days of smoking on the tube and bus with no segregation at all and on planes etc. Even I thought planes was disgusting and limited it to one on long haul. Remember watching film on big screens on flights through haze of post meal smoke.
Bloody hell, eh ?

Of course I would, dont be ridiculous.Wear some old clothes that can go into washing when back.I think your child has most likely been exposed to far worse things then sitting on a sofa of a smoker.I am a non smoker.

Bet you drive a car OP.

I smoke cigarettes and weed. Never been a problem. My son of 30 is never ill, nor am I.

Any person who does not want to enter my house because of it is o.k. with me. Live and let live I say.

Youve not really addressed the issue. It stinks. Your house stinks, your furniture stinks and the skin and clothing of your visitors will also stink when they leave.

My dh has smoker, including weed, friend. He goes ones every two months on average for the evening. He strips in the kitchen and puts his clothes straight in the wash, then has a shower and washer his hair before coming to bed. Then again the next morning. Because the smell sticks to everything. And it is an awful smell when stale.

Smokers never realise how badly they stink.

Roll ups smell a huge amount less than ‘real’ cigs. When I was a smoker I swapped and never ever smoked ‘real’ at home or any enclosed place.

The car argument always comes up when people are defensive about their bad habits.

It's getting boring.

Outlyingtrout · 30/12/2021 10:55

I wouldn’t because I think smokers’ houses are absolutely rank and I had quite enough of the stench to last a lifetime when my dad used to smoke indoors in the 80s. I might make a one-off exception if for example it was a beloved relative who was very ill and couldn’t leave the house.
