Hi all,
I've joined this forum hoping some other mother who experienced this can help me. I am tired, fed up and drained.
A bit of a back story.
For the first 4 months of my sons life he was the perfect baby and I mean this literally. He had no health problems, barely cried, probably whinged when he was hungry but I was on the ball as I was excited to be a mum again. He slept really well during the day and night and only woke up for a feed and then would go back to sleep after being burped. Once a week he would be sick and it was what I call a 'fountain sick' I used to think I was feeding him extra and that's why he was being sick but I fed on demand but also stuck to every 3 - 4 hours during the day and night until he was around 2-3 months. I then let him wake me up but I also kept an alarm on so I didn't leave him without a feed for too long.
So once he turned 4.5 months I noticed he was always waking up in the night crying, same during the day, I was forcing him to go down for a nap, forcing him to have his milk. I wasn't getting any sleep. I eventually realised something wasn't right so I got in touch with my GP. They told me he had reflux. This was a first for me. He was on gaviscon which didn't work, I was then given omeprazole I believe. That worked wonders. So for a week he started sleeping through the night again. Then back to his old ways. Whatever medicine they gave me would work for a week and then nothing. I was advised by GP to start weaning him on food at 5 months. It made things better but he never slept through the night again. He would wake up once or twice and then he started inviting himself into bed which I didn't mind because he actually slept and would let me sleep too.
Fast forward to now when he's 20 months. So since he's turned 16-18 months he's become a nightmare. He wakes up for longer periods in the night. More frequently too. He constantly has tantrums, he makes himself sick, he refuses to sleep in bed (I did put a stop to that) we have been awake since 2.58am his stomach was rumbling around 4ish so I made him milk thinking if he's hungry he will go to sleep once he's had his milk. WRONG! He's not teething and he does have a dummy but I've decided to take that away because I feel like that could be another reason as to why he keeps waking up. He does have a dummy clip.
I don't know what to do. Please someone help :(
