Rotavirus vaccine side effects

Hi everyone
Merry Christmas if you celebrate

My little girl had her 1st immunisations 9 days ago and she seems to be still unwell from the rotavirus
I've read through the threads here and it seems normal for her to have the runs/upset tummy and worsening reflux but it's 9 days and she's had 4 dirty very very wet pooey nappies today. She is so upset....screaming sometimes and usually a very happy baby

Is this normal for this long and if so when does it pass.
Is the 2nd dose as bad
How do I know if she is dehydrated? And what do I do for this?
She is feeding perfectly fine

Lou xx

Not saying it's normal or not normal but when my little one had his first one on day 7 he projectile shit all over me and had awful nappies for a fair few days after. I'd been pleased we'd had no side effects from it but it seemed to come later for him so maybe they do last a while?

For the dehydration just make sure they're eating as normal, keep an eye on their eyes. They'll appear sunken and dry if dehydrated and when they cry there will be no tears. Check for a dry mouth or sunken soft spot too but from what I've been told by doctors we've seen for other things it's apparently quite easy to tell when they get dehydrated. Also you want 6 wet nappies a day I think it is and if there's been no wet nappy for 8 hours then definitely speak to someone. Hope they're feeling better soon, the second dose was no where near as bad for us.

And if there is any blood in the stool or you just feel something is wrong then don't hesitate to go up to a&e. Complications are rare with it but when they do happen they need to be treated asap.

@Theresamagicalplace thank you so much fingers crossed were on the home stretch at 9 days. I think the runs started 4 days after so 🤞
So glad 2nd dose might not be so bad that's food so fingers crossed.
Ahh she is having her usual wet nappies and we have tears....plenty of then so that's a relief I was just worried as you hear so much about runs and dehydration I wasn't sure if I was meant to give her more pr something else.

Poor little things don't understand its to protect them.....neither do my ringing ears arm 🤣

Not sure if this will make you feel better or worse but it seemed to unsettle my baby for about 3 weeks!
