Hi everyone - I just wondered if any one has had a baby with tonsillitis and how long it took their baby to recover? My 13 month old boy has been on antibiotics since last Friday evening so nearly 7 days now and has 10 day course. He does seem better in himself but at night he is waking a lot and only seems to go back to sleep after drinking milk. He had 3 bottles last night. I’m not sure his throat would still be in pain at night even though seems better in the day ? Iv never had tonsillitis so I don’t know what it’s like apart from knowing he must of been in a lot of pain :(

I have bacterial tonsillitis at the moment and not being dramatic but I’m in agony 😅 I also haven’t been able to sleep well because of the pain.

It’s a bit like a toothache, you can’t ignore it it’s constant, especially as you’re swallowing often and it’s like glass in your throat.

Bless your poor babe….I’m scared my little one will catch it off me 😢

Sorry I don’t have much advice on a little one with tonsillitis but whenever my babe is sick she always wants a night feed too. Hope he recovers soon x

Hi, my DD had tonsillitis as a baby. She was screaming all night before she was diagnosed but then once the antibiotics kicked in she seemed to recover really quickly. I’m not an expert but maybe your baby is catching up on food if he has been off his food when he was poorly? Or maybe his sleep routine was broken and he needs to settle back into it. If he’s not in pain and generally improving I wouldn’t worry too much. Hope things get back to normal soon.

Your poor baby. Tonsillitis is horrible. My dd suffers quite alot with it. If he seems better in himself I wouldn't be too concerned. The night air might make it slightly worse just as it does with a cold so the milk might be soothing for him. If he doesn't seem to be getting better after the antibiotics I'd contact your gp as he may need more antibiotics. Lots of fluids and as long as he's having enough wet nappies too I wouldn't worry too much. I really hope he gets better soon.
