It's normal at that age!

Mine are 3½ and 6½ and still can trash a room.

Sapphier · 20/12/2007 11:50

i have tried with the crayons and books, bit of c beebies. Think i am just tired i will go get dressed and get them wraped up and go for a walk around the block. Bit of fresh air should help all of us

I have a 2 and a half and a one and a half. Today I've had broken baubles, nappy change bag opened and contents strewn across room, refusal on nappy change, sky box unplugged, sky card removed and hidden, tv stand cracked and dd2 hiding behind the tv and getting stuck. The only way I could remove her was to lift her by the back of her sleepsuit until I could reach her enough to grab her under the arms. Poor thing I felt like I was choking her, but I could do nothing else - TV is tall and v v v heavy and I am short. It is all compounded by the fact that I've been doing overtime at work for christmas and I'm getting progressively tireder. I had a real SH*t shift last night and cried in the toilets for 10 mins then in bed when I got home.
I think your plan of taking them for a walk is a winner. Me? Just put them down for their nap and I'm praying today is one of the days they take it - I so need to sleep.
Sorry not much real advice, just know you're not alone. You're not a bad mom (quite possibly I am but that's a whole other thread)!!!

Sapphier · 20/12/2007 13:10

aw ty for all your comments.
Chrissnow i take my hat off to you, how you manage to do all that you do and keep going! You are a fantastic mum, keeping a job and bringing up your two lil dc.
I do hope they go down for a nap for you, let you get a bit of sleep.

I have been for a walk with the boys, took the bikes out and what should have been a 10 min walk was half an hour! hehe but its was good. We had lunch and now the youngest has gone down for a nap and other is watching good old cbeebies (not sure how long that will last for)

Oh yes I remember the sky card going missing. When dd1 was 18 months we spent ages looking for this only to find she had posted it into the video recorder slot.

chrissnow · 20/12/2007 15:51

Glad they've calmed down for you!! Mine did indeed sleep, I must have had an evil glint in my eye (the one that was still open!!).
I'm not sure how I keep going tbh. Other than I don't really have an alternative. Whether I be wrong or right - I love the people that bought us Tweenies and Night Garden and Mr maker and the other lovelies that shut the madness up for 30 mins!!

Sapphier · 21/12/2007 10:30

hahaha totally agree chrissnow! love night garden (i.e nearly time for bed )

Aww i am glad they did sleep for you, how are you getting on today?

I am having the same scenario as yesterday only this time i am extra tired

One more bauble broken!! But they didn't get me out of bed until 8.45 today (8.45 I haven't still been in bed at this time since 2006!!!) I didn't get in from work until 3.10am so that was very welcome and they have been duly thanked and cuddled profusely!!
Once when I was in sooooo tired mode I brought their duvets and dd1's blow-up ready bed downstairs and we all 'played' beds!! I didn't get any actual sleep but I did get chance to lie down snuggled up with 2 cuties so that was nice - try that one??? It is pure novelty value so I think if it does work it may only be once in a blue moon. (see that's how I cope - coming up with new, bizarre and exciting ways to keep them occupied). Today I will be getting them to put all of their toys into a bag. removing them from living room and swapping them over for the toys stored upstairs. They haven't seen them for so long they get dead excited so that buys me an hour!!

Sapphier · 21/12/2007 14:02

awww! haha i love that idea! i will make a big bed for us and a xmas film You are a star chrissnow, and i hope you have a lovely christmas with your two lil dc xx

aw shucks thanks. .
Hope it went well. Merry Christmas to you and your babies too.

havalina · 22/12/2007 00:25

What is it with sky cards both my 2 went through a phase of being obsessed with taking them out and hiding them. Most annoying.

chrissnow · 22/12/2007 00:54

they seem to hold the same kind of appeal as remote controls!!!!

chrissnow · 22/12/2007 01:00

Someone told me once of their LOs obsession with the sky card. He kept taking it out and running off with it. They caught him hiding it under a corner of carpet one day so went to take it back out. They found 20(!!!) batteries. He'd been removing them from remotes/toys etc and they hadn't been able to find them until then!!!

lottymadbird · 22/12/2007 14:59

I never found where my sky card went. Had to get the engineers out to replace it. Quite common apparently lots of kids poke them down between the floorboards. Not possible in my house so am convinced that one day i shall find small chewed up deposits in DS's nappy !
