Hi I’m looking for some advice from you lovely lot, my LO is 5 months old and still having 5 naps a day, i’m not too concerned about that but before he naps (and night time) he has 10-20 minutes of crying/ wingeing, taking the dummy spitting it out. Hes behaviours are like he isn't tired but he gives off all the queues.

Any one have any tips for me?

Possibly over tiredness? What time is last nap and what time is bedtime? I’d try to get him into a 2 nap routine.

Sounds like overtired baby what’s your routine might be time to mix it up a bit.

Hey ladies thanks for responding, as a rough guide he will get up at 8, nap 4/5 times until bedtime at 8, he wakes twice in the night for boob.

I thought he may be over tired too so as soon as he starts rubbing his eyes i try and get him down but he will then spend 20ish minutes fussing and then full blown crying.

Id love a 2/3 nap routine but how do i go about this?

Thanks

This was mine, I was told their sleep cycles are approx 40 mins so if I woke him after 40-45 mins he was lovely if not it had to be another cycle or he’d be a grump so a long nap would be around 90 mins. The 1630 nap was the first to go from this as when he struggled to sleep in the evening obvs it may not work for you, babies really are trial and error.

7:00 a.m.: Awake
8:45 a.m.: Nap
09:30 a.m.: Awake
13:00 p.m.: Nap
2:30 p.m.: Awake
4:30 p.m.: Nap
5:15 p.m.: Awake
6:30 p.m.: Bedtime routine
7:00 p.m.: Bed

Oh and DS was very much a routine baby he hated change (still does) whereas some don’t seem to care

mulberrybag5 · 23/12/2021 20:55

I’d try no nap after 4 and see if that helps?

Bunintheoven111 · 24/12/2021 09:13

Thanks ladies, well yesterday my brother and his kids were round so his last nap was at 4:30 and went a bed at 8 but im sure it because there was so much going on. He did protest before bed but he just wanted to be on his side lol.

Ok will try again today to cut out or certainly cut down the last nap.
