He’s made me feel awful

DS is 10 months old and about an hour or so ago he fell back and hit the back on his head off the carpet. He’s had a few bumps the past few months since he’s started crawling and pulling himself up on the sofa. Each time I’ve felt like the worlds worst mum. Anyway, earlier when DS fell, DP went mad, saying if he carries on banging his head he will die, and if that happens he will murder me. He’s left me feeling so worked upSad

Kids bump themselves, it’s what they do.

Your partner sounds like an unsupportive twat. Also, why is it your fault?

withsexypantsandasausagedog · 21/12/2021 21:39

Oh my god you poor thing! What a shit your partner is! Crawling and cruising babies do hurt themselves, and survive! They are not made of glass.

What your partner said is a serious red flag...

Amammai · 21/12/2021 21:42

‘He will murder you’ that is most definitely not a normal response. Is this how he normally speaks to you?

Babies and little toddlers have bumps all the time, stopping him from ever having a bump isn’t good for him to learn.

Your baby is not going to die from falling over and bumping his head!!! I'd be very concerned about your partner's comments/ threats though. Do you want to tell us more? Though I can't imagine many situations that justify such comments (I don't mean that nastily)

Notthissticky · 21/12/2021 21:48

FWIW, I also have a 10mo old, with a 3yo brother. Falling over and bumping his head is the least of my and my baby's concerns, 3yo has slapped him in anger, cuddled him a bit too enthusiastically, fallen off the sofa onto him etc etc - just trying to reassure you a little!

Branleuse · 21/12/2021 21:48

if he was there when ds fell, how is it only your fault?

Babies do fall over a lot when theyre first learning to be mobile. Its normal.

Mummy1608 · 21/12/2021 21:50

That is quite an abusive thing for your partner to say...!

Strawberrycremes · 21/12/2021 21:51

Whenever anything happens, it’s always my fault. Any opportunity to have a ago at me, he will

You are not the worlds worst mum but a Dad who threatens kill the mother of his child, is an abusive, terrible father.

Did he do this in front of child too? What a shut role model for his son he is. Threatening to kill you is LTB for me.

Strawberrycremes · 21/12/2021 21:52

@HowRudeolfYou yes, also our 5 year old was in the room too

He’s not being a good Dad or setting a good example to your children.

Same, I've got a 9 month old and a 4 year old,

The 4 year old has sat on her head before now! 9 month old DD falls over very often from pulling up to the sofa

Toplowlight · 21/12/2021 22:39

Your baby will be absolutely fine, all babies fall when learning to move and a few bumps won’t do him and harm.

Your partner sounds terrifying and abusive. I worry that you and your children aren’t safe. Do you have a friend or family member you would feel safe talking to about this?

Strawberrycremes · 21/12/2021 22:45

@Toplowlight I’ve been thinking about speaking to my mum tomorrow. It’s just left me feeling really uneasy
