Stupid question about ages

Hi,

My DD is 20 weeks today so do I class him as 5 months today or 5 months the date he was born on as I've been going by his date, but medical people are going by the weeks...

Thank you

I know it's an stupid question 🤣 but wanted to see which is the correct way as I know some that go by the day for their month or date for their month

I would say he’s 5 months once he gets to the day of the month he was born. Otherwise I’d say he was 20 weeks.

Not sure what everyone else says though Smile

Same as above.

I use weeks for medical appointments during the first sixth months (as they do often need to know the week) and then months after that for the rest of that first year.

He’s 5 months old when it’s 5 months from the exact day he was born so 20th of July birthday would be 5 months on 20th of December. I personally don’t think in terms of weeks after about 4 months old, and would probably need to look at a calendar if a medical professional specifically asked!

There isn't exactly 4 weeks in a month so 20 weeks isn't the same as 5 months iyswim.

I started saying it in months after the date my son turned 4 months so say their birthday was the 10th of May, he was 4 months on the 10th of September but he was 16 weeks on the 30th of August so a big difference with weeks

DramaAlpaca · 19/12/2021 15:27

Under six months the weeks might matter, but not so much afterwards.

I'd say 20 weeks now, then switch to six months according to his birth date.

I think there is a rule of 2:
Hours until they are 2 days old
Days until they are 2 weeks old
Weeks until they are 2 months old then
Months until they are 2 years old
