Hi all.
My LO is 12 weeks old. He was on sma for the first two weeks but this made him produce hard stools on HV advice I changed him to SMA comfort this eased the constipation however this made his stools very dark green and very smelly also having explosive nappies every so often. As well as The dark green poo he was very gassy I contacted GP and health visitor about the colour both telling me in the end up not to worry but any family member of mine who saw his poo told me they have never seen anything like it. So HV last week told me to change him back to normal mill to see if it helps things so I changed to aptimil as I had enough of SMA, he is now struggling to poo again and has hard stools! I am convinced he has cmpa but doctor will not listen to me because he keeps the majority of his bottles down!! He has issues with stools, has a cough sometimes and gets wee rashes after a bottle sometimes also. Can someone who has been through this or similar offer any advice it is breaking my heart to see him in pain!

Green poo is common with comfort milk. I'm sure it says about it on the tub.

Doesn't say anything on tub. His were extremely dark dark green and explosive

If you Google 'sma comfort green poo' then there's lots of people that say the same. It doesn't mean there's a problem

A teaspoon of milled flax seed in porridge or weetabix helped our baby girl to be regular!

MGee123 · 20/12/2021 14:19

Do not give a 12 week old porridge, weetabix or flax seed!!

T0rt0ise · 21/12/2021 06:19

Green formula poo is normal

Definitely don't give a 12 week old porridge or flax seed.

The cough and the rashes are standing out for me. I'd give Allergy UK a call today and talk through the possibility of CMPA and how to get the best out of your appointment with your GP.

Do agree though that green pop is fairly normal with comfort milk.

When my DD was 4 months old I was advised a little brown sugar in boiled, cooled water. It worked.
Massage tummy.

Find a tub of Aptamil Pepti online and try it out, then you can report back to the GP x

Gosh how long ago was that? Seems quite old fashioned advice?
