Cows milk

Hi all,
Lo is 1 in a few days and we have tried to introduce cows milk to her, well she doesn't like it! 🙈 shes fine having it in porridge/weetabix but not to drink.
First bottle she initially took 2 ounces and then completely refused to drink any more.
We've tried drinking some from a glass and getting her involved, she clocks what it is, screws her face up and won't take anymore.
I've tried mixing some milk with formula... that didn't work... were at abit of a loss.
We said we wouldn't buy any more formula and now we probably have about a quarter of a tub left.
Any other tips we could try?
Anything we've tried she has just refused!!

Have you tried warming it up? Or is that what you've done?

My LO wouldn't drink it cold

Findahouse21 · 18/12/2021 17:34

Dd won't drink cows milk. She likes oat milk instead

Cotswoldmama · 18/12/2021 18:02

If she eats well I wouldn't worry about her drinking milk. She can get nutrients from food instead of formula. I would carry on using it where she will have it but try other things like yoghurt. One of my son's wouldn't drink cow's milk and that what I did.

I wouldn't worry about it. Past about 12 months they don't need formula or cows milk especially if she has it with cereal, yoghurt, cheese etc

Just give a sippy style cup with water to drink & all nutrients will come from food.

Second oat milk, we get the organic because there’s no rapeseed oil but if you’re not fussed about that you can get the fortified one with the same vits etc that you’d get from cows milk

Nothing wrong in not consuming cows milk straight. Its not mandatory...after all by nature designes for baby cows not humans.

Thanks all for messaging.

@SleighbellsZ yep tried it both cold & warm and refused both.

@Findahouse21 @Athomewiththehales89 I might try oat milk, its not something we'd normally buy but I might get some see if she like it 👍

Organic oat milk isn’t suitable as it won’t be forfeited with dairy.

There is no need to drink cow milk or even milk at all as long as they are getting 350mg calcium a day and iodine.

Try very gradually increasing the amount of cows milk you mix with the formula, start with very little. I had to do this with DC to go from breast to formula. Took me about two weeks in total, slow going!

Ilikecheeseontoast · 18/12/2021 20:29

I weaned mine off Formula and onto cows milk gradually to get him used to the taste. Replaced an ounce at a time every few nights until it was 100% cows milk. It took a few weeks but was fine and now he loves cows milk warm or cold.

Peppermint81 · 18/12/2021 20:44

I did the formula/milk mix too. It toolkweeks but he is now finally on cows milk.
I started slow, 30mls cows and rest formula, next week 60mls cows milk etc it gets them used to the taste of cows milk.

She doesn’t really need to drink milk as long as she’s getting two servings of dairy a day (cheese, yoghurt, milk in food etc). Try her on oat milk or just give her water to drink and keep up the dairy elsewhere.
